ENU mutagenesis in mice is applied in order to generate phenotypically interesting mouse lines that may serve as animal models for similar human phenotypes. Exome sequencing has become a popular method to evaluate these undirected mutagenesis experiments. In this experiment, 8 mouse lines selected for their phenotypes after ENU mutagenesis were submitted to exome sequencing. The genetic background of these mice is C3HeB/FeJ, a suitable strain for ENU mutagenesis, which is relatively distant from the standard mouse reference genome. For pinpointing pehnotypically relevant mutagenesis-induced variants, sequences obtained from the mutant mouse lines were aligned against an alternative murine reference assembly, C3H/HeJ. Under this accession number, raw sequencing data in fastq format are made available for the 8 mutant strains used.
