中国科学院(CAS)气候系统模式FGOALS-f3-L于近期完成了第六次国际耦合模式比较计划(CMIP6)试验中的全球季风比较计划(GMMIP)的Tier-1和Tier-3试验并发布了相应数据。本文是FGOALS-f3-L参加GMMIP试验的数据描述文章。在GMMIP Tier-1试验中,基于观测的海温和海冰强迫,FGOALS-f3-L模式完成了三组不同初始场的历史模拟试验。在GMMIP Tier-3试验中,FGOALS-f3-L模式完成了5组地形和热力扰动的敏感性试验。具体来说,包括四组地形敏感性试验,分别去除了青藏高原、东非和阿拉伯半岛高原、北美马德雷山脉和南美的安第斯山脉,以及一组热力敏感性试验,去除了青藏-伊朗高原及邻近区域500m以上地形的地表感热加热。这组数据集将贡献于CMIP6用于评估海温对全球季风环流和降水的长期以及短期趋势的影响,以及更好的理解大地形在影响全球季风中的作用。
The Climate System Model FGOALS-f3-L of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) recently completed and released corresponding data for the Tier-1 and Tier-3 experiments of the Global Monsoon Model Intercomparison Project (GMMIP) within the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6). This paper is a data description article for FGOALS-f3-L's participation in GMMIP experiments. For the GMMIP Tier-1 experiment, the FGOALS-f3-L model conducted three sets of historical simulation experiments with different initial conditions, driven by observation-based sea surface temperature and sea ice forcing. For the GMMIP Tier-3 experiment, the FGOALS-f3-L model completed five sets of sensitivity experiments regarding topographic and thermal perturbations. Specifically, these include four topographic sensitivity experiments that respectively remove the Tibetan Plateau, the East African and Arabian Plateaus, the Sierra Madre Mountains in North America, and the Andes Mountains in South America, as well as one thermal sensitivity experiment that eliminates surface sensible heating over terrain above 500 meters in the Tibetan-Iranian Plateau and its adjacent regions. This dataset will contribute to CMIP6's efforts to evaluate the impacts of sea surface temperature on the long-term and short-term trends of global monsoon circulation and precipitation, as well as to better understand the role of large-scale terrain in regulating global monsoons.
