The purpose of this part of the project is to compare hyporheic exchange measurement methods and evaluate feasibility of using fiber optic DTS in a small stream (East Fork Poplar Creek) in Tennessee. CTEMPS stand-alone high resolution temperature loggers and fiber optic DTS were used to measure temperature gradients between stream-bed sediments and a stream to estimate groundwater discharge to surface water across a small hyporheic zone. There are also in-stream piezometer, electrical resistivity, and in-stream tracer test data to compare with the temperature method. Data will be available upon in September 2021.
