Whole Genome Sequencing of E. coli in Pediatric UTI cases in Nghe An, Vietnam (2018-2020)

This dataset contains whole genome sequencing data of E. coli strains isolated from pediatric patients with febrile urinary tract infections (UTIs) at a hospital in Nghe An, Vietnam, from 2018 to 2020. The dataset is derived from a portion of the 392 children, aged 2 months to 15 years, who were diagnosed and treated for febrile UTI. It specifically includes cases where E. coli was successfully cultured and sequenced, excluding other bacterial types and samples where culturing or sequencing was not successful. Following NICE guidelines for UTI diagnosis, patients with severe concurrent illnesses or prior extensive antibiotic treatments were excluded. The VITEK-2 Compact system was used for bacterial identification. The dataset focuses on E. coli strains due to their successful cultivation and genomic sequencing using Illumina Next Generation Sequencing technology. This data is crucial for understanding the genomic characteristics of E. coli in pediatric UTI cases in Southeast Asia, particularly in the context of antibiotic resistance.
