Harmful algal bloom caused by the toxic dinoflagellate Karenia mikimotoi lead to severe environmental impacts in oceans worldwide followed by huge economic losses. Solar ultraviolet radiation is regarded as an abiotic stress factor. However, molecular mechanisms of solar UVR effect on the K. mikimotoi, even other HAB species, have not been investigated. The present study investigated the transcriptional response of K. mikimotoi against a 7-day solar UVR stress, with the aim of providing certain molecular mechanisms of solar UVR effect on the K. mikimotoi species
