Drought is a major constraint on chickpea (<i>Cicer arietinum </i>L.) productivity and is expected to intensify with climate change. Non-structural carbohydrates (NSC) are central to plant stress tolerance, yet the role of whole-plant carbohydrate allocation in drought tolerance of chickpeas remains unclear. This study investigated NSC dynamics in two chickpea genotypes (ACC #7 and ACC #8) differing in drought sensitivity following vegetative stage drought priming.
