This dataset provides the NUTS zones 1:250 000 (NUTS250) as of 31.12. for the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. The database comprises for the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany the regions of the nomenclature of the territorial units NUTS for the purposes of European statistics. The NUTS regions are hierarchically structured, are divided into three levels and are based on administrative units for Germany with few exceptions. Level NUTS1 in Germany: Countries; Level NUTS2 in Germany: predominantly administrative districts; Level NUTS3 in Germany: district-free cities and counties; At the NUTS 2 level, Germany is also designated as the former administrative districts of Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony in addition to the current administrative districts. In national usage, this NUTS-2 classification is also referred to as “Statistical Regions”. The geometry is from the respective database Administrative Areas 1: 250000 (VG250) derived. Thus, the geometry is aligned with the DLM250 in terms of accuracy and resolution analogous to the VG250. The data are divided by level (NUTS1, NUTS2 and NUTS3).
