The effect of a short-term supplementation of a flavan-3-ols-rich cranberry extract was investigated on the composition of the gut microbiota. In total, 39 human subjects strictly avoided consumption of food or beverage containing flavan-3-ols for one week and, after that, consumed a flavan-3-ols-rich cranberry for 4 days (82.4 mg flavan-3-ols per day). Fecal samples were collected before and after the supplementation for fecal microbiota analysis.
