HVI-AFIS dataset

The sample is comprised of 402 cotton samples that were gathered at spinning industry of Bangladesh and includes both the High Volume Instrument (HVI) and Advanced Fiber Information System (AFIS) testing. These parameters are 20 in total, 14 of them are based on HVI data and 6 of them are based on AFIS data. The parameters are managed into three categories, which are Identification, HVI, and AFIS. Identification category entails Lot and Bale ID.

The HVI group includes Spinning Consistency Index (SCI), Moisture, (percent), Micronaire (ug/inch), Maturity, Upper Half Mean Length (UHML, mm), Uniformity Index (UI), Short Fiber Content (SF, percent), Strength (g/tex), Elongation, (percent), Reflectance, (Rd) and Color Grade (Upland).

The AFIS category comprises of Total Nep Count (count/g), upper Quartile Length (UQL, mm), Short Fiber Content by weight (SFCw), Short Fiber Content by number (SFCn), Maturity Ratio and Immature Fiber Content (%).

The data are categorical and numeric variables. Lot and Color Grade (Upland) are categorical though all other parameters are numerical.
