Greater Yellowstone Area (USA) Bark Beetle Gallery Area Data from 2008 to 2009

Data were collected in four wildfire burn areas at least one year post fire throughout the summers of 2008 and 2009. For each tree sampled, data were recorded on mountain pine beetle gallery area (cm2) within a randomly selected 8 cm2 bark disk, Ips beetle gallery area (cm2) within a randomly selected 8 cm2 bark disk, wood-boring beetle gallery area (cm2) within a randomly selected 8 cm2 bark disk, Pityogenes beetle gallery area (cm2) within a randomly selected 8 cm2 bark disk, fire injury category of the tree, diameter of tree at breast height, height of tree, mistletoe rating, and blister rust lesion presence. The purpose of the data was to measure the ovipositional and larval gallery area of mountain pine beetle and its competitors in lodgepole pines experiencing varying degrees of fire injury.
