Carbon Neutrality Process, Market Policy, and China’s Low-Carbon Economic Transition: Study Based on Prefecture-Level City Data

The data for this study are derived from the China City Statistical Yearbook, the China Energy Statistical Yearbook, the Atmospheric Composition Analysis Group, and the official website of the National Bureau of Statistics. The time span of the panel data is from 2006 to 2020. This period was selected considering that the national carbon market was officially launched on July 16, 2021. To avoid any potential impact of this event on the conclusions of this study, the sample period was truncated at 2020. The definitions and calculations of the variables in the data are detailed in the main text of the article "Carbon Neutrality, Carbon Market Policy and the Low-carbon Economy Transition of China: A Study Based on City-level Data".
