Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) are one of the major global public health threats. Whether CRE strains resistant to ertapenem alone among carbapenems (ETP-mono-resistant) demonstrate unique phenotypic and genotypic characteristics is unrevealed in China. We conducted a randomized matching study in 1:1 ratio to determine the molecular epidemiological characteristics and ertapenem-resistant mechanisms of ETP-mono-resistant CRE strains.
