Assessing the Contribution of EU's ecosystem mapping (MAES) -- Projects to filling IPBES knowledge gaps

The data from national MAES projects (Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystems and their Services) can help address knowledge gaps identified by IPBES and the IPCC. We identified and clustered 51 consolidated knowledge gaps based on the IPBES Europe and Central Asia Assessment Report and the Europe chapter of the IPCC Climate Change 2022 Report. Subsequently, we consulted experts from 14 European countries and French Guiana to identify sources of new knowledge that could help address these knowledge gaps.
