This dataset supports the article "Seasonal variation in gravity wave momentum and heat fluxes in the mesopause region observed by sodium lidar". The dataset consists of two parts. Part 1 includes the data for zonal momentum seasonal (Figure 1) and annual (Figure3) results and heat flux seasonal (Figure 4) and annual (Figure5) results from the (University of Science and Technology of China) USTC sodium lidar. The sodium lidar was previously installed at USTC, Hefei, China and is described in the paperLi, T., Fang, X., Liu, W., Gu, S. Y., & Dou, X. K. (2012). Narrowband sodium lidar for the measurements of mesopause region temperature and wind. Applied Optics, 51(22), 5401–5411. https://doi.org/10.1364/AO.51.005401.Part 2 is the data (Figure 2) of zonal wind from surface to 80 km in 2018 over Hefei from ERA5 reanalysis data. The ERA5 data is described in the paperHersbach, H., Bell, B., Berrisford, P., et al. (2020). The ERA5 global reanalysis. Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, 146: 1999–2049. https://doi.org/10.1002/qj.3803.The data is in NetCDF format, from 80 to 100 km altitude for lidar data and from surface to 80 km altitude for ERA5 data.
