We have been isolating a number of environmental phages for Photorhabdus so that we could screen for the ability to activate the TA system (and thus suffer abortive infection). There is very little indeed on phages of Photorhabdus in the literature so we decided it would be good to try to find some new phages because they should be both novel and interesting. We have isolated a phage family that is able to infect Photorhabdus. These 6 bacteriophage form the basis of this study. One further phage will also be included, YSD2, which may have high degree of synteny with YSD1. The 7 phage will be combined via barcoding and used in 1 SMRT cell for PacBio sequencing.
