Acetyl-CoA Synthetase Mutations Affect the Susceptibility of Plasmodium falciparum to Antimalarial Drugs

In our previous study, we collected 11 P. falciparum cases with recrudescence after ACT treatment from Chinese migrant workers who returned from Central and West Africa. These patients experienced treatment failures with recurrent parasitemia within 42 days post-treatment despite receiving intravenous artesunate (AS) and orally administered DHA-piperaquine (PPQ). Here, we used genomics to explore potential genetic changes associated with the recrudescent parasites.
