The State Film Centre was established in December 1946. The State Film Centre was transferred from the Premiers Department to the Ministry for the Arts under the Ministry for the Arts Act 1972. In December 1983, the State Film Centre of Victoria became a statutory body under the State Film Centre of Victoria Council Act 1983. This record series comprises the proceedings of Council meetings. Under the Cinemedia Corporation Act 1997, the Cinemedia Corporation became the successor in law to the State Film Centre of Victoria Council.
