The Neuropsychiatric Phenotype of anti-NMDAr Encephalitis

A prospective and longitudinal study was conducted, with patients admitted to the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery of Mexico, who fulfilled criteria for possible autoimmune encephalitis along a time window of seven years. Systematic clinical assessments were conducted before knowing NMDAR antibodies' results, including a bespoke inventory to register a broad scope of neuropsychiatric features, and different scales to measure the behavioral, cognitive, and functional features. CSF antibodies against the NR1 subunit of the NMDA receptor were processed with rat brain immunohistochemistry and cell-based assays with NMDA expressing cells. Outcome measures were registered.本研究为一项前瞻性纵向研究，纳入墨西哥国立神经病学与神经外科研究所收治的、在7年时间窗内符合可能型自身免疫性脑炎诊断标准的患者。研究人员在获知抗N-甲基-D-天冬氨酸受体（N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor, NMDAR）抗体检测结果前，对患者开展系统性临床评估：涵盖一套定制化量表以全面记录神经精神特征，同时采用多套标准化量表对患者的行为、认知与功能特征进行测评。针对NMDA受体NR1亚基的脑脊液（Cerebrospinal fluid, CSF）抗体，通过大鼠脑组织免疫组化法与表达NMDA受体的细胞基检测法完成分析。本研究同时记录了各项结局指标。
