VPRS 12942 Register of Female Prisoners Received

Series comprises a register of female prisoners received at Melbourne Gaol. On reception at the gaol the personal details of every prisoner received was recorded in this register. For each prisoner the following details are recorded.- annual gaol number (not the prisoner number from VPRS 516)- name- date arrived in the colony (year) and ship- year of birth- condition on arrival- former colonial convictions- personal description height, make (i.e. build), complexion, colour of hair, eyes- education read or write, superior education- particular marks- native place- religion- trade or calling- admitted when, from where, purpose, offence, date of conviction, sentence, how disposed ofVPRS 12942/P1 was previously registered as VPRS 521 unit 1. It was reserialised in 2002.
