A missionary father stands in the doorway of a bamboo fence. The door or entrance is constructed of nine large pieces of bamboo, each about seven feet long, that swing from the lintel of the door frame. A Madagascan man stands with the father holding back some of the bamboo poles to keep the entryway open.; The back of the postcard has a handwritten note in French and contains a printed title: "MADAGASCAR (Cote Est) - Porte betsimisaraka. (Le P. Moudenc)." ("(East Coast) - Betsimisaraka Door. (Father Moudenc).") The back also contains information about the mission--"Mission de Madagascar (Tananarive) - 79, Avenue de Breteuil, Paris XVe - C.C.P. Paris 13.04"--and the printer--"Helio-Vangirard - Paris."
