Forest Functions in Saxony — FFH-Arthabitate, linear

The data set contains the forest areas and linear objects in the Free State of Saxony, which are designated as FFH-Arthabitate. FFH species habitats are intended to preserve biodiversity through the protection of natural habitats (according to Annex I to the Habitats Directive) and of wild fauna and flora (according to Annex II to the Directive) at pan-European level and, together with the bird protection areas, the creation of the coherent ecological network Natura 2000. The basis is the Flora-Faune-Habitat-Guideline. Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora is a nature protection directive of the European Union (EU). Together with the Birds Directive, it essentially serves to implement the Berne Convention. One of the main instruments of the Bern Convention is a coherent network of protected areas called Natura 2000. The data is used for the forest function map 1:25,000 of Saxony.
