The problems of tracking learner behaviours across multiple educational information systems and platforms and the lack of integration between these systems has been a challenge for years. Recent approaches using activity metrics, sent to an intermediary Learning Record Store, are more promising. The use of context-aware scenarios, learning designs that are designed to make the best use of activities, requires a context identifier in order to collate metrics from these disparate systems into a cohesive data stream in order to support cross-system analytics
