Freswhater fish native distribution map transcriptions from Huitfeldt-Kaas, H. (1918)

Transcriptions of native range maps of Norwegian freshwater fish from Huitfeldt-Kaas, H. (1918). Ferskvandsfiskenes utbredelse og indvandring i Norge : Med et tillæg om krebsen. Kristiania: Centraltrykkeriet (in Norwegian). This book describes in detail the recordings of freshwater fishes in Norway collected by the author from 1902 and onward. This repository contains digitalization and georeferencing of analogs maps presented in the appendix of the book, describing the inferred native distribution area of the various species as recorded by the original author as well as processed and modified maps. The main part of the modification is cleaning of geometries and errors arizing from georeferencing old hand-drawn maps, but also some new minor interpretation have taken place in instances where the original maps contain obvious errors or inaccuracies. This repository contains 1) original and georeferenced images scanned from the source publication in geoTIFF (geoTIFF.zip), 2) shapefiles (.shp) generated by the raster to polygon toolbox in GRASS (Huitfelt-Kaas_orginal_shapefiles.zip) 3) manually curated and modified distribution areas as shapefiles in a .zip archive (Huitfelt-Kaas_modified_shapefiles.zip). Included are also scripts (GRASS) used to reformat (scripts.zip). The naming of files (shapefiles in the .zip archive) follows Norwegian vernacular name nomenclature as present in the original source text (i.e. one shapefile pr. species). All georeferenced material are in WGS 84 / UTM zone 33N (EPSG: 32633). Please see README.txt for closer description of files and formats as well as structure within each .zip file.
