mRNAseq of kefir species Lactobacillus kefiranofaciens and Leuconostoc mesenteroides as well as Lactococcus lactis and Acetobacter fabarum

Species isolated from milk kefir, namely Lactobacillus kefiranofaciens, Leuconostoc mesenteroides, Lactococcus lactis and Acetobacter fabarum were grown 3 days at room temperature (no shaking) in milk as single species and in following combinations: 1) Lactobacillus kefiranofaciens and Leuconostoc mesenteroides and 2) Lactococcus lactis and Acetobacter fabarum. Total RNA was extracted, rRNA depleted with the NEBNext® rRNA Depletion Kit (Bacteria) and a sequencing library was prepared using the NEBNext Ultra II Directional RNA Library Prep Kit for Illumina. The libraries were then sequenced using the Illumina MiSeq Next Generation Sequencer.
