A glacier inventory for southeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau based on Landsat and PALSAR data (2009-2014)

This dataset is based on the 2011-2014 multitemporal Landsat optical image, 2009-2010 l-band radar PALSAR images and correct the SRTM digital elevation model (DEM) to get the latest list of Southeast Tibet glacier. Space ranges from 28 ° n-31 ° n, 93 ° e-97 ° e, including the nyainqentanglha range in Central and Eastern Hengduan Mountain West, covering an area of 115,000 square kilometers. Within the data set consists of three files: 1) defines the vector file the research area, 2) list of glacier vector files, 3) documents of the statistical characteristics of each glacier, statistical parameters include the GLIMS numbers, glacier area, maximum and minimum height, average height, average slope, on average, with or without glacial covering, and glacial coverage. In order to overcome the cloudy and rain effects on optical imaging in Southeast Tibet, free of moraine cover extraction based on automatic identification of the glaciers and snow cover for semi-automatic multi view image information fusion and optical images of the ground information and PALSAR radar images are the coherent combination of map and the slope, realized for semi-automatic extraction alone glacial glacier. In the post-processing stage, uses human editors to improve data accuracy: control free of moraine cover connection glacier moraine covering parts of, adjusting a single glacial limits, as well as correcting some shadows and water effects. Compared with the artificial glacier border digital extraction, the glaciers overall accuracy of the data set in the 3%. This latest inventory of glaciers decreased cloud, seasonal snow and ice and moraine-covered glaciers range the influence, as a basic data set can be applied to a variety of glacier research.
