Chromatin particle spectrum analysis reveals diverse chromatin-remodelling functions for the yeast Swi2p, Chd1p and Fun30p ATPase factors

A recently developed chromatin sequencing technology, which can simultaneously map sequence-specific DNA binding proteins, mono- and poly-nucleosomes, is used to investigate the genome-wide functions of three budding yeast SWI/SNF-type chromatin-remodelling ATPase factors implicated in transcriptional regulation. We dissect the various chromatin-remodelling roles of Swi2p, Chd1p and Fun30 and show that they exhibit a diverse range of nucleosome placement, displacement, replacement and sliding activities in a variety of contexts.
