The goal of this study is to describe the evolution of research in Surgery, from 1981 to 2012, using the Text Mining to extracting information and taking into account: 1. the type of research design, 2. prevalence of terms representing the risk factors of chronic diseases within the database, 3. if the prevalence of risk factors found in the scientific database reflects the importance given by the population through the same search in Google website.
