Contribution of dispersal to the metabolic response of bacteria to salinity. freshwater metagenome

The main aim of our study was to test the contribution of immigration to the functional and compositional response of a lake bacterioplankton community to a disturbance. We conducted an in situ experiment where mesocosms containing water from an oligotrophic clear water lake were exposed to a change in salinity with and without dispersal from sediments or air deposition or the combination of both.
