Database of Bed Material Load Transport in Flumes and Rivers with Fine-grained Beds

This database is a compilation of sediment transport
data collected from laboratory flumes and rivers. Bed material load is the part
of the sediment load that is both being transported by water flow in the
channel, and also is found in abundance on the channel bed surface. This database
is focused on the fine-grained sediment transport where bed median grain size
is less than 2 mm. Particular attention is paid to the data with bed median
grain size less than 250 µm. The compiled database includes most of
published data on equilibrium bed material transport with median grain size
less than 250 µm. Sediment is transported at equilibrium when the
water flow is steady and uniform and the flow does not, in the mean, erode or
deposit sediment from or to the granular channel bed; thus there is no net
erosion or deposition on the channel bed. Each complete set of data includes channel
width, hydraulic parameters (water discharge, water surface slope, water depth
and average flow velocity), sediment characteristics (median grain size,
standard deviation, concentration), temperature and bedform states. In total,
the database consists of 783 field and 811 flume data sets.
