EQUATESv1.0: Inventory Emissions (SMOKE inputs) -- 2002-2017 US_12km

Data Summary: Emissions Inventory and Summary Files from the EQUATES Project The EQUATES base year emissions are from the 2017 NEI. For each sector in the 2017 NEI one of four approaches was applied to estimate emissions for the entire 2002-2017 time period: Develop new methods for creating consistent emissions for all years, Use 2016 or 2017 model platform emissions and create scaling factors based on activity data and/or emission control information, Use existing modeling platform data for earlier years (2002-2015), or Leave emissions flat at 2017 NEI levels. See Foley et al. (2023) for information on the emissions modeling methods used for each sector. Data Files in This Repository A Unix-based utility is used to package the emissions files together into tar files and then compress them into .GZ files with GNU Zip compression for easier download. Available data files include: Monthly and annual emissions totals for the Contiguous United States (CONUS) for 9 pollutants: NOX, SO2, CO, PM2.5, primary organic carbon (POC), primary elemental carbon (PEC), VOC, non-methane organic gases (NMOG), NH3. Files are located in the emission_summary_files folder. This folder also includes a README_EQUATES_v1.0_emissions_summaries.txt file with additional information about the different emissions summaries. Emissions inventory files (EQUATES_INV__version1.0.tar.gz) and meteorology files (met.tar.gz) for the CONUS for 2002-2017 suitable for input into the Sparse Matrix Operator Kernel Emissions (SMOKE) emission processor. In addition to the year-specific data files users should also download the ancillary_data_version1.0.tar.gz file which includes general ancillary files needed for SMOKE processing related to speciation, spatial allocation (gridding), and temporalization. These file are needed for all the emission inventory years. A README file describing the inventory data is available HERE.
