Effect of short-term glucocorticoid treatment on gene expression of cultured neonatal cardiomyocytes

To investigate the direct effects of endogenous glucocorticoids on global gene expression of cardiomyocytes and to explore their potential impact on their proliferation and regenerative capacity, we performed whole-transcriptome RNA sequencing on primary neonatal murine cardiomyocytes cultured in vitro and treated with corticosterone. Corticosterone was administered over a short time frame to identify genes directly regulated by glucocorticoids. Gene expression profiling analysis of RNA-seq data of cardiomyocytes isolated from control mouse models at postnatal-day-1 (P1), cultured in vitro and treated with corticosterone (CORT 10^-6M for 30 minutes).
