Co-culture experiment to investigate gene expression in lichenized and non-lichenized partners. 9 days is considered to be the initiation of interaction in previous lichen co-culture experiments. Partners grown separately and together on 99:1 BMM:MEYE plates. The main lichen association being investigated is between Xanthoria parietina and its Trebouxia photobiont. Additional pairings include Aspergillus nidulans, Cladonia portentosa, Chlorella sorokiniana, and Asterochloris sp.
