Data set 214 interviews with researchers on the use of GenAI tools in qualitative research processes

This dataset contains anonymized responses from 214 researchers across diverse disciplines, collected through semi-structured interviews exploring the use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools in qualitative research processes. The data captures a wide range of practices, perceptions, barriers, and applications related to the integration of GenAI technologies, such as ChatGPT, NVivo with AI modules, and literature discovery tools, into tasks like data analysis, transcription, writing assistance, and literature review. The dataset is structured according to a coding framework that includes 5 categories: C1. Ethical implications of GenAI in qualitative research, C2. Protocols and guidelines to ensure ethical use of GenAI in qualitative research, C3. Use and practical implications of GenAI in qualitative research, C4. GenAI applications used in qualitative research and C5. Barriers to the adoption of GenAI in qualitative research. This dataset has been used for the development of the scientific article titled “Voices of Researchers: Ethics and Artificial Intelligence in Qualitative Inquiry.”
