GUT MICROBIOTA IN IBD PATIENTS

Gut microbiota has a critical role in the mechanisms of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).In this project, fecal microbiota was evaluated in Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) patients, compared to age-matched subjects. Microbiota phylotyping and diversity were performed by pyrosequencing the 16S rRNA V1-V3 region and computing microbial ecology by QIIME (v.1.8.0) to elaborate operational taxonomic units (OTUs) and their richness.
