Nocturnal habitat selection by African elephants (Loxodonta africana) across baobab woodland landscapes in northern Zimbabwe
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains the processed telemetry and environmental data used in the study "Nocturnal habitat selection by African elephants (Loxodanta Africana) across baobab woodland landscapes in northern Zimbabwe." It includes validated nighttime GPS locations from eight collared African elephants monitored within the Mid-Zambezi Biosphere Reserve (MZBR), Zimbabwe, during the cool dry seasons (June–August) of 2022–2025, together with extracted nighttime land surface temperature (MODIS LST), continuous baobab habitat suitability values derived from the published ensemble species distribution model of Chitsa et al. (2026), and randomly generated available locations used for habitat selection analyses. The dataset comprises quality-controlled telemetry records, extracted environmental predictors, and supporting analytical outputs used in the associated manuscript, and is provided to promote transparency, reproducibility, and future ecological research on elephant movement, nocturnal habitat selection, and climate–vegetation interactions in African savanna ecosystems.
