A Preliminary Investigation into the Colored Stationeries in Wu Xu Archives in the Qing Dynasty

There’re more than 1000 precious official or private letters in Wu Xu Archives in the Qing dynasty. All these letters are written in the colored stationeries. The researchers have made a preliminary investigation into the sizes, the curtain line spacing, the paper thickness,etc. of the paper, and have summarized the pattern subjects, paper mills, the main processing technologies involved with the colored stationeries, and have also analyzed the fibre composition, fillers and coating components of two Xue Tao stationeries in Wu Xu Archives, so as to provide some technical references for the study of the processing and restoration technologies of the Chinese traditional art paper.
