The effects of hawthorn fermentation broth on gut microbiota of high fat diet fed mice were studied. The mice were divided into four groups: control group (ND), high fat diet group (HFD), high fat diet and low concentration of hawthorn fermentation broth group (HFD+LFB), high fat diet and high concentration of hawthorn fermentation broth group (HFD+HFB). After 12 weeks of treatment, the gut micribiota was analyzed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The results showed that Hawthorn fermentation broth increased the abundance and diversity of gut microbiota of HFD-fed micein a dose-dependant manner. The aboundance of several microbita at the genera and species levels were found to be significantly changed by the high fat diet, but could be reversed by the fermented broth of Hawthorn.
