VPRS 11163 List of Authorised File Classifications and Index to Inward and Outward Correspondence, Single Number System

This series comprises a list of authorised file classifications and a record of inward and outward correspondence received and despatched.The list of authorised file classifications comprises a list of files in alphabetical order giving the corresponding file number and a list of files in numerical order. In some cases the file number used up to and including the 1964/65 financial year was different to the file number used from the 1965/66 financial year onwards. This is indicated on the alphabetical list. These lists were referred to by the agency as the Index to Files (Alphabetical and Numerical Order).The record of inwards and outwards correspondence provides summary details of all letters received and despatched and gives the number and year of the file to which the correspondence were attached. Items of correspondence were allocated a sequential number within each file category. This record was referred to by the agency s the Index to Letters (Inward and Outward).
