In this study, to explore the impact of mixed foraging on the structure of gut bacteria in the herring gull and common shelducks on the Binzhou Seashell Island, China, and to assess the potential influence of mixed-species behavior on the diversity of gut microbiota in these birds, Illumina high-throughput sequencing was used to analyze the intestinal bacteria of these birds during the wintering period.
