A MULTIDIMENSIONAL MODEL OF EMOTIONAL RESONANCE IN UZBEK–ARABIC LITERARY TRANSLATION: EVIDENCE FROM ABDULLA QODIRIY'S BYGONE DAYS
收藏资源简介:
This article proposes a multidimensional, text-based framework for assessing emotional resonance in Uzbek–Arabic literary translation, using selected passages from Abdulla Qodiriy’s Bygone Days (O‘tkan kunlar) and its Arabic rendering, Al-Ayyām al-Khawālī. Existing discussions of emotional translation often identify lexical shifts or losses of imagery without explaining how distinct components of affective meaning interact. The proposed model distinguishes five dimensions: semantic orientation, emotional intensity, imagery, evaluative connotation, and pragmatic function. Rather than treating lexical similarity as sufficient evidence of equivalence, it compares the configuration of these dimensions across aligned passages. Qualitative close reading illustrates how a translation can preserve a character’s emotional state while making implicit meaning explicit, reducing imagery, or strengthening intensity. A transparent annotation matrix is introduced for future comparative and inter-rater research. The findings are methodological and exploratory: the study does not claim measured audience responses, statistically validated scores, or generalizable frequencies. Its contribution is an operational distinction between semantic fidelity and the textual conditions that may support emotional-pragmatic equivalence.
