Comparative analysis of probiotic and antibiotic supplementation on pig production outcomes and microbiota: an on-farm trial in Vietnam

A standard diet, with or without probiotic and antibiotic supplements, were compared in a group of pigs in Vietnam. The impact of these treatments on the gut microbiota was evaluated using next-generation sequencing of the V1-V3 region of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene. The study provides insights into the potential use of probiotics in place of antibiotics to support animal health and productivity on pig farms in Vietnam.
