The hospital plan is an instrument with which the Free State of Bavaria — identifies the concrete need for capacity to provide full and partial hospital treatment; and — determines which hospitals are necessary for the needs-based care of the population and are thus funded under the KHG/BayKrG. Hospitals are divided into: Plan hospitals for health care levels 1, 2 and 3, specialist hospitals, university hospitals and contract hospitals.
