A Bombyx mutant, multilunar, has twin spot markings which are composed of black and yellowish-brown color. To identify pigmentation genes regulating the formation of twin spot markings, RNA was extracted from black, yellowish-brown, and white (as a control) epidermal tissues at a 4th instar larva of multilunar. Illumina paired-end libraries were constructed and sequenced using an Illumina Hiseq 2000.
