This dataset is named California Bloom and Pollination. It is a self-supervised spatial feature dataset dedicated to ecological research on native plants and flying pollinators in California. Utilizing research-grade observation data from iNaturalist, the dataset extracts image features via the DINOv3 ViT-L/16 model and calculates flowering and fruiting probabilities using the PhenoVision model. The dataset aims to address the pressures imposed by climate change, land use change, and invasive species on California's biodiversity hotspots. By large-scale integration of plant flowering and pollinator visitation data, it provides AI-ready scientific assets for ecological forecasting. The dataset contains approximately 10.27 million image embeddings, covering 5.24 million observations and 16,446 species, including 6,383 native plant species and 10,063 flying pollinator species, with its geographic scope restricted to the state of California. Its data components include species lists, pollination interaction data, image inventories, DINOv3 and PhenoVision feature embeddings, lookup tables such as UMAP visualization data, and complete scientific provenance records. The dataset is stored in Parquet format, with a total size of approximately 4.15 TB. It is licensed under the MIT License, while the original source images are subject to their respective Creative Commons (CC) licenses.
