Specific abundance patterns are left by distinct chemical enrichment processes during the formation and evolution of galaxies. We propose to observe the luminous infrared galaxy Arp 299 with a total exposure of 130 ks. The existing RGS spectrum with a short exposure yields rather high Mg-O and Ne-O abundance ratios openParwith large uncertaintiesclosePar in the hot atmosphere of the host galaxy. Core-collapse supernovae are the main metal factory of these elements. Nonetheless comma the observed abundance ratios are in tension with various initial mass function weighted yields at the 1-2 sigma confidence level. Combining the archival and proposed observations comma we can accurately measure the metal abundances. We will explore possible origins of the unusual abundance ratios.
