Comparing age-related intestinal microbiome composition - rectal swabs and fecal samples in piglets

It is important to employ appropriate sampling methods for assessment of gut microbiota in humans and animals. This study was designed to evaluate whether rectal swabs offer a reliable and efficient sampling method, that allows determination of (age-related) microbiota colonisation pattern in piglets, compared to fecal samples.
