A Spatially Explicit 1-km Gridded Multi-sector Carbon Emission Dataset for China (2000-2020) with an Extension to 2021-2023

This dataset provides a high-resolution, gridded carbon emission inventory for China, designed to support research and applications in territorial spatial governance and carbon mitigation. Carbon emissions are spatially allocated using territorial space as the fundamental unit, with sector-specific proxy weighting layers constructed according to emission characteristics. The dataset includes six sectors: agriculture, mining, industry, transportation, commercial services, and residential. Sectoral emissions are distributed to 1 km × 1 km grid cells through an iterative spatial allocation approach based on the corresponding proxy layers. Emissions are reported in units of Mt CO₂. Temporal coverage spans 2000–2020 at five-year intervals, with additional estimates for 2021–2023 extrapolated from 2020 baseline conditions.
