NSN Focus Lists

This data is a subset of NSNlive that is particularly useful for answering the question: "Which plant species are most likely to be useful for restoration of an area that is 1 acre or more in extent?" These lists are compiled in stages: (a) review the literature looking for anchor and/or common species in a given ecoregion or (ideally) in a plant community within a specific ecoregion that are (preferably) native to the area, (b) poll and discuss the preliminary species list with recognized experts with both academic and practical expertise in the given geography, (c) weigh the expert input against selection criteria and distill a list of recommendations. These lists, by ecoregion and often by community, are known as "focus lists".
