Christ Church, New Houghton, Pleasley, Derbyshire. Historic Building Recording (OASIS ID: archaeol5-341071)

In January 2019, Archaeological Research Services Ltd was commissioned by Mr Stuart Hill to complete a Historic Building Recording in order to discharge a condition of planning permission granted by Bolsover District Council (planning application number 18/00293/FUL). The application is for the demolition of a late 19th century former church and subsequent erection of 4 residential dwellings, with associated groundworks, at Christ Church, New Houghton, Pleasley, Derbyshire. The report outlines and discusses the on-site historic building recording work carried out. This report also includes background research and a photographic survey record. The Historic Building Recording of Christ Church, New Houghton, has been conducted to Historic England Level 2 standard. It investigated the exterior and interior of the former church building and provided information relating to the history of the building and its development which can be summarised as follows Phase 1 - 1898 The Church of Christ Church is opened Phase 2 - c1898-1918 organ bay added Phase 3 - c1961 a new community centre building is linked to the north of the church.
