Comprehensive sampling from mitochondrial genomes substantiates the Neoproterozoic origin of land plants

To increase and balance taxon sampling of early-diverging angiospermae, we sequenced the mitochondrial genomes of <i>Brasenia schreberi</i>, <i>Euryale ferox</i>, <i>Kadsura longipedunculata</i>, and <i>Illicium verum</i>. To assemble and annotate the 16 mitochondrial genomes, we used the Hybpiper pipeline (V1.3) (https://github.com/mossmatters/HybPiper) and selected 19 high-quality mitochondrial genomes with their protein-coding genes serving as reference bait sequences, as shown here: <b>Angiosperm_bait.fa</b>.
